Each year for Phoebe’s birthday on or around December 7th,
we raise money for Hospice of the Chesapeake's Chesapeake Kids program for children in hospice care. Last year, we sponsored Hospice’s Days of Joy Program, which provided pediatric hospice families with a customized outing for family bonding, quality time, and shared celebration to help mitigate the adverse emotional and social impacts of their child’s illness.
We raised $3,000 for this cause—and it was put to great use!
For a teenage girl in hospice care, HoC was able to pay for her, her family, and a few friends to have a day at the movies including all movie tickets, and money for concessions.
HoC threw a high-school graduation party for a young man whose lengthy illness had delayed his graduation several times. His family and friends were ready to celebrate this awesome achievement! The Days of Joy program provided all of the food, decorations, and cake for his celebration for his chosen Day of Joy.
And Hospice treated a young woman to a spa day for herself, as well as a birthday party (with cake!) for her, her family, and her friends.
Hospice of the Chesapeake said, “All of these were made possible solely through your donation, and the patients and their families have been so grateful. All of the patients we have helped so far would not have been able to pay for this otherwise, so it is especially appreciated.”
We will again support Days of Joy this year, this time with two fundraising events!
The first will be at Chipotle Mexican Grill in Severna Park on Monday, December 2nd from 5pm-9pm. Just print the flier—or even easier, just show it on your smartphone—and Fight For Phoebe (and Days of Joy) will receive 33% of the sale! (Please note that online orders don’t count!)
The second will be at Brian Boru Irish Pub in Severna Park on Monday, December 9th. Like last year, they’ll be offering a three-course prix fix menu for $25--$10 of which will go towards our fundraiser! Click here to see the menu!
